Julie is an AHPRA registered who graduated with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from the University of Queensland, Brisbane in 1989. 

She has worked in a broad range of clinical settings both in Australia and the UK working across mental health, paediatrics and ME/CFS. She has taught occupational therapy both in the UK and currently in Australia.

She completed her MSc research in the UK (2003) "Chronic fatigue syndrome and occupational disruption in primary care: is there a role for occupational therapy?"

In 2024 she was invited to become the Occupational therapy advisor to the charity, ME Group Australia. She is pleased to have been involved with the webinars for severe ME day and will be involved again in 2025!
 
Batkin, C & Hughes, J produced guidelines for OT on how to conduct an NDIS functional capacity assessment with people with ME.
